In this episode of Serving Jesus Christ, Pastor Swanson shares an inspirational Sunday message titled,

Being Single-Minded

Do you ever think that you have too much going on in your life?

Like you are being pulled in way too many directions. . . so many directions that you feel like you just want to give up!

Maybe you have heard the phrase. . .

Too many irons in the fire!

It implies that we should not try to do so many things at the same time. Instead, we ought to focus on one thing at a time and do it well.

Though this is not always possible, it is to be a guiding principle in our lives.

The origin of the phrase. . . Too many irons in the fire. . . is associated with a blacksmith who tries to heat too many irons at the same time in a forge and ends up wrecking some of them.

It has come to mean that though we might do many things at once, none of them end up being accomplished in the way and at the level, they ought to be.

It is a fact that many things compete for our attention in our day-to-day lives. We try to juggle them but are not always successful.

We all know this feeling.

Sometimes, we end up feeling like we are about to be overrun!

When nothing is our central focus at any given moment then nothing is of real and lasting value.

However, there is one area in which we must be single-minded. . . a central focus that must be maintained above all else.

That area is our focus on Jesus Christ.

Jesus wants us to focus on one thing. . . and that is His Kingdom.
