Federal Way Church of Christ Sermons

The opening of John challenges its readers to reimagine glory in light of Jesus.

When God came to earth it was in the vulnerability of flesh and he leads us in vulnerability as his people on mission.

The true light entered the world with the soft flicker of a candle, but once we've seen him we will never be the same.

Even in exile, the promises of God are still true. We can trust him as we await the restoration he brings.

The Christian faith is an exile faith with old things lost and new things to hope for.

In exile we must resist our fight ro flight reactions and follow Jeremiah's instructions into flourishing. Wherever you are, be there.

In exile we must face our grief with honesty and vulnerability which makes way for healing, dreaming, and celebration.

In exile our worship cannot be in religious ritual at the temple, but through justice and righteousness in the streets where Christ dwells with us and makes us into his own temple of worship.

Jeremiah serves as a guide for us in our own experience of exile.

Each week the benediction reminds us that we are restored by God's grace, filled with God's peace, and sent in the light of God's smile.
