We’re back with another Snack Break, a Feed the Fangirl bonus episode! This is a bite sized episode that doesn’t quite fit on the main menu. 

In today’s bonus episode we cover one of the strangest (and funniest) celebrity rumours that have come across our desk in our time as fangirls: Hobama. Aka, the crackship between Harry Styles and former US president Barack Obama. Plus we unpack another fabricated internet ship between Tom Holland and Nicki Minaj. We also cover the ‘Zendaya Hat Theory’ and how Zendaya and Tom Holland are always at the scene of the crime when it comes to wild internet bits.

Recently it feels like we have seen an overwhelming amount of reboots, remakes and prequels in film and television. It had us thinking - where is the original content and why do we have reboot fatigue? In today’s episode we explore the state of cinema and the risk averse nature of Hollywood and the entertainment industry. We interrogate Hollywood’s reliance on IP and nostalgia content and explain why we see fewer original stories on the big screen. We discuss the rise of Gen-Z filmmakers, the resurgence of horror films and the success of Obsession and Backrooms at the box office. We also chat about Gen-Z’s cinema going habits and a shift to physical media. Also, Hollywood, we think you learnt the wrong lesson from Heated Rivalry and Barbie!

In today’s episode we revisit the alleged love triangle between Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett and Sabrina Carpenter. Whether it’s shipping culture, fan-art or fanfiction, fandoms are spaces for expressing creativity and exploring identity in a semi-private, safe space. We ask what is the etiquette mainstream media should follow when reporting on fandom and what is the ethical responsibility of a journalist to protect the privacy and safety of these spaces? 

We unpack the Teen Vogue article *The Pitt* Fans Aren't Happy With Journalists. We Need Real Etiquette When Reporting on Fandom and revisit some of the reporting around the Heated Rivalry fandom. Can journalists toe the line between examining fandom through a critical lens and leading with respect without violating boundaries?
