On today's episode, I talk with my friend Courtney Bullard. Courtney is a wife, mother to two daughters, and unwavering Christian. Courtney talks to me about answering the late-night call from God to start The Pearl House Academy and The Pearl House Career Center in Ghana in 2013. The Pearl House provides physical care, emotional support, spiritual development, and academic and vocational opportunities. They "empower girls their unique identity and purpose in Christ." In addition, Esombo is part of The Pearl House in which women design, create, and sell jewelry and a line of hand-sewn bags and masks. I have several pieces of their jewelry which I love to wear because I know I am helping the women behind the product have a better life for themselves and for their families. Sarah's daughter, Willa suffers from an extremely rare genetic disorder called Adenylosuccinate Lyase Deficiency (ADSL). There are only 35 children in the entire world who have an ADSL diagnosis. Sarah talks about how her family changed after receiving the diagnosis and how even on her hardest days, she knows that God has her covered in mind and spirit.
