Week three of Advent focuses on Joy. In John 15, Jesus tells His disciples how they can experience His joy, which is complete joy.

This Sunday is week two of Advent. Traditionally, the second week of Advent focuses on Peace, which is possible only because of Jesus. We will look at Jesus’ promise of peace for His followers.

As we begin the Advent Season, we look at the hope that was given to the people of God before that glorious night in Bethlehem.

Romans 1-11 established that everyone is completely dependent on God’s gift of righteousness for their relationship with God. We must replace the lies of “good enough” with the truth that grace is enough. Paul uses Romans 12-16 to show how this works in our relationships.
Introduction:
It is important to return to the big picture of Romans. There is an overall message that Paul means to communicate in chapters 1-11, which sets up the theme he will communicate in chapters 12-16. This morning we will put together the theme of chapters 1-11.

Paul concludes the book of Romans with a final exhortation: maintain the integrity of the gospel. Forces will enter the church that will erode the gospel that Paul taught in the book. The church must be alert to this erosion and cling to the gospel.

Paul continues his conclusion to the book of Romans by greeting people he knows or has heard of. This was a standard part of a letter in Paul’s day. But this section of greeting should not be overlooked. It reveals important details of what God is doing in the church.
