The book of Acts is a letter from Luke to a man named Theophilus. Acts records how the Lord Jesus Christ worked to build His church in fulfillment of His promise in Matthew 16:18. It is the continuance of Luke’s carefully researched history of the events of the Lord’s birth, ministry, death, and resurrection in the Gospel of Luke. Those things recorded in Luke’s gospel cover what "Jesus began to do and teach" (Acts 1:1). It is clear that Luke wants us to understand that Acts covers what "Jesus continued to do and teach." His ministry by the Spirit through the apostles spread the gospel from Jerusalem to Rome and to other farther-flung parts of the Roman empire.

Pastor Postiff begins a series of lectures from one of the college courses he teaches. The topic is Translations of the Bible, and the first couple of sessions deal with how the Bible came to us. This material can greatly strengthen the faith of Christians as well as answer the questions or objections of skeptics.

Paul desires a heavenly body and is fully confident that God's eternal purpose for that very thing will be fulfilled because God has given us His Spirit as a guarantee.

The historical timeline indicates that Judah could have seen what happened to the northern kingdom and learned from their experience. Yet they chose the curse side of Deuteronomy 28, and God was faithful to His promises. They may have tried to solve their problem like Adam and Eve did, insufficiently. But the problem they created could not be solved from their level. They needed God's mercy and help to solve it.

To be wise, we must listen to generational wisdom, we must discern what path to walk, and we must engage every part of our person in the pursuit of wisdom.

In this message we review the three chapters of 2 Peter and close out with a reminder of the diligence that we must exercise to continue in the knowledge of God and not fall into the error of the wicked. Peter ends with a pray for God's glory to be magnified both not and forever as we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ.

Our church recently experienced the grief of a family member passing suddenly out of this life. Pastor Postiff took a few minutes to share some truths that keep us steady when someone passes away. He reminds us that we must hope in God when someone we love dies.

We then enjoyed a testimony of one of our deacons about a health challenge and job change in which he experienced a real grace of the Lord. That portion is not included in this podcast.

We finally returned to the regular expositional schedule with a message in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.

Are you concerned with the decline of the physical man more than the incline of the spiritual, inner man? Do you allow yourself to be overwhelmed by the afflictions of life, not realizing the benefit they are working for you?

We begin a series on Zephaniah with an overview of key focal points of the book. God speaks through the prophet about (1) universal judgment; (2) the Day of the Lord; (3) seeking the Lord; (4) corrupt leadership; (5) all the earth in 3:8; (6) rebellion; (7) remnant; (8) joy of restoration; (9) final restoration.

True wisdom offers security, shapes our conduct, and brings God’s blessing. Those who walk in wisdom have confidence in the Lord despite unsettling circumstances in life, will love their neighbors as themselves, and will receive God’s blessing both now and in eternity.

Peter calls on us to live as Christians worthy of God's coming kingdom. God is very patient with His people, wanting them to come to repentance concerning their sins. Peter exhorts us to live in a way that agrees with the imminent return of Christ.
