We examined the first half of Daniel 12, focusing on the doctrines of bodily resurrection and the timing of the Jewish Tribulation that is raised in this passage.

Last time we looked at walking in wisdom. In verse 18, the Scripture gives us a two-fold command, followed by a number of consequences. Those consequences will be for a future lesson. But our goal in this lesson is to understand just what it means to be filled with the Spirit and the contrast with being drunk.

To be filled with the Spirit to be permeated by the truth concerning Jesus Christ revealed in the Bible. The command is to "be being filled" with the Spirit.

We spent some time interacting this evening on what kinds of bad thoughts there are, and where they come from. Next time we will examine some practical tips on how to handle them, by God's grace.

Scripture reading was in 1 Samuel 31 and 2 Samuel 1. This section caused us to pause and consider what exactly happened with the death of Saul. Was he killed by the Amalekite, perhaps while Saul was dying from the self-inflicted wound of falling on his sword? Or did the Amalekite lie and actually found Saul already dead? Certain portions of the recording where there was audience participation have been elided.

The main point of our time together this evening was to teach more about the doctrine of the Trinity. We covered Old Testament and New Testament evidence.

We finish our study of the 11th chapter of the prophet Daniel, in which we are transported to a yet future time when the Antichrist will come in the likeness of an earlier King of the North and persecutor of Israel--Antiochus IV Epiphanes. We learned something of his military campaigns and his demise.

Our teacher takes us into Ephesians 5 again and up to Ephesians 5:18. At that verse, there is a very important prohibition about being drunk. Drunkenness is one of the key manifestations of depravity. Meanwhile, think of these questions: Is the wine today the same as in Biblical times? Is it necessary for us? Is it the best choice for us? Is it habit-forming? Is it potentially destructive? Will it harm my Christian testimony?
