We read 1 Samuel 20, and then finished up our exposition of Mark 16, with the difficult verses 9-20. The difficulty arises in the transmission of the Biblical text and the cloud of suspicion that hangs over it, both because of external and internal factors. We began reading in Leviticus. Then we studied the latter portion of chapter 5, noting Belshazzar's blasphemous, idolatrous disrespect of God. Daniel then reads and interprets the message and shows Belshazzar that he has not followed the example of his grandfather, who was humbled under the mighty hand of God. Instead, Belshazzar died that very night as the Medo-Persian empire took over the city of Babylon and the entire Neo-Babylonian empire.

We take a second cut at Ephesians 4:1-6 in this study. The emphasis was made about a supernatural unity of the body.

We looked at a number of questions that God posed to Job in the section that brings Job low and exalts the glory of God. Theologically, we considered what a righteous person behaves like when confronted by sin. Somewhat paradoxically, a righteous person repents! It is the unrighteous that refuse to repent.

The scripture reading in this service was 1 Samuel 19. Then we studied the end of Mark 15 regarding the burial of Jesus and the return on Sunday of the ladies. We also took some Q & A, which means small sections of the recording is very faint at points of audience participation. This sermon also serves as Part 1 for Mark 16.

After reading Genesis 50, we tied up a few loose ends in chapter 4, and then began our study of Daniel 5 up to about verse 11. A great deal of background information occupied our time as we tried to understand the sequence of Neo-Babylonian kings and some of the liberal criticism of Daniel's prophecy.

Micah prophesies the coming judgment of God because of the idolatry of his people, both in the northern and southern kingdoms.

We read 1 Samuel 18, we worked through more of Mark 15, focusing on the veil of the temple being torn, two other witnesses to the death of Christ, and looked at some details about the women who followed the Lord. We noted also that the Lord's body was taken down from the cross before night, so that the land would not be defiled.

After reading Genesis 49, we continued our study of Daniel 4 starting about verse 19. We learned about Nebuchadnezzar's humbling at the hand of God, what his mental condition was, and how he finally recognized God as the sovereign ruler of all things.

We review the early chapters of Ephesians with a particular focus on the prayer in 3:14-21. Then we studied the early part of chapter 4 where Paul tells us how we are supposed to walk worthy of the calling that God has placed upon us.
