The last two sessions, we focused on 3:1-7. Our teacher starts here with some review, and moves forward from there. Note that the pure language spoken of is not a different language, but words that are pure, without sin or filth in them.

Our study tonight was in Job 30, where Job laments how he is mocked and mistreated by people who are "nothings" in society. These evil people were restrained by Job when he was well; now they spit in his face!

This is part two of last week's high-level theological study of the superiority of dispensational theology to covenant theology. We reviewed last week's material and added a number of reasons why covenant theology falls short as a theological system in its goal of explaining the entirety of Scriptural revelation.

We reviewed the opening verses of chapter 1, and moved through verse 14. We took an interesting aside to think about the issue of para-church organizations and the proper place of the local church in this age. We thought about some of the promises that we have in Christ: peace, love, grace, justification, wisdom, confidence, hope, joy, victory, eternal life, power, mercy, forgiveness, truth, fellowship with God, spiritual discernment.

We saw the ministry of the Spirit in the life of the believer, specifically that it includes a seal and guarantee of security and authenticity.

After reading of 1 Samuel 9, we studied Psalm 56 under the direction of Missionary Jack Mitchell. What encouragement we find here for those who find themselves in trouble.

In preparation for a conference talk, Pastor Postiff shares some results of his theological studies on the systems of theology known as dispensationalism and covenant theology. This is about the first half of the material that he planned to share. Stay tuned for the second half. We also read Genesis 37.

We read Jeremiah 31 and studied the New Covenant in some detail. The conclusions that we draw might be somewhat surprising to you, but they are drawn immediately from Scripture. Listen in and see if you agree.

We read Genesis 36. Then, we examined the blessings of salvation. We saw that Jesus is not a savior in theory, but in actual practice. He saves primarily from the wages of sin, which is eternal death. But while He was on the earth, He also rescued many people from the temporal effects of sin.

Such effects that Jesus miraculously healed included diseases like leprosy and dropsy; demon possession; hunger; mental illness; hemorrhaging; fever; crippling handicaps of the feet, legs, and hands; blindness; muteness; deafness; severe scoliosis; seizures/epilepsy; paralysis; and death. Take another careful look at this list. The intrusion of sin and death in the world is the ultimate cause of all of those afflictions. Christ has the power and authority to fix them all. And what He did was truly fix those issues. This was not hocus-pocus or sleight of hand. Rather, the creator of the universe (John 1:3) reactivated his creative powers and fixed or made new again body parts that were non-functional. He created food with the same power. He used His authority as Son of God to recall spirits from the dead and to command demonic spirits, whom He had initially created before they fell into sin, to obey His will.

The bulk of the message focused on 11 blessings that the believer receives from God at the time of salvation. These include forgiveness, justification, indwelling, union with Christ and His church, new life, transformation, adoption, reconciliation, redemption, and being made complete in Christ.
