Assistant Pastor Lorch shares his position statement on the topic of Missions. The ultimate purpose of missions activity is the glory of God. Missions immediate goal is not merely conversion of individuals, but the establishment of long-term discipleship, which is centered around the formation of healthy, reproducing local churches. Missions is not humanitarian aid but the making of disciples who are then baptized and taught the Scriptures.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-28 reminds us that how we treat others is a measure of our personal holiness. In this message, we covered verses 19-28, the closing verses of the epistle. First, we considered the caution against quenching divine revelation that came to the early church through true prophets. Second, we considered the promise that God will sanctify believers entirely. He who is faithful will do it! He is in the process of making His children wholly holy.

This message explains the background of 2 Corinthians, which will be our next book in our expositional series. We learn about the many interactions that Paul had with the church in Corinth, some of the problems in the church and its background from 1 Corinthians. We took a brief look at the first two verses, where we will pick up next time.
