We start our stewardship series in 2 Corinthians 8:1-5, where we see an example of giving which God shows us as a pattern for the church. Paul begins by writing about the sacrificial giving of the Macedonian churches. He explains how God’s grace worked in those people’s lives to cause them to give themselves to the Lord. This in turn shaped their hearts in joyful generosity that desired to participate in helping other Christians despite their own deep poverty.

We take a look at the Christian virtue of respect. There is an epidemic of disrespect in modern western society. This study is about the respect that we should show to other people. The respect that men should show toward women, and women toward men. That children should show to parents, and parents to children, and people toward those they do not agree with, etc.

In this message, Pastor Lorch begins a series on prayer. Prayer can be defined simply as talking with God. There is nothing mysterious about prayer. If the Creator-God has revealed Himself to us, it is to be expected that He will desire His creatures to talk to Him. Prayer is directed toward the true and living God. There are several kinds of prayer mentioned in Scripture. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 mentions general prayer, as well as prayers of thanksgiving, supplication, and intercession. We also find in Scripture prayers of confession.

Pastor Lorch teaches about the marks of the "worthless" and "wicked" man who is a troublemaker. He uses perverse speech, sinister gestures, has in his heart to do evil, premeditates his evil deeds, and stirs up controversy. God detests this kind of behavior and those who practice it. The Proverbs six man is in direct contrast to the Matthew 5 man, who is humble in spirit and a peacemaker. Which man do you resemble?

In these verses, the apostle Paul shows us how the Corinthian church demonstrated true repentance. This becomes a model for us to evaluate our own repentance.

In this message, Pastor answered a question concerning Solomon's moral decline and how the children of Israel corrected the problem of improper marriages after the exile.

The book of Ezra records the initial return from exile of Zerubbabel and Ezra, the rebuilding of the temple, the opposition to the Jews and their work, and Ezra's moral reforms. It demonstrates God’s provision and protection and reiterates His call for holiness among His people that they should implement by following His word, something Ezra desired to do himself.

After long absence due to their disobedience, the Jewish people were back in their land. This history, along with Nehemiah with which it was originally paired, explains how God was still working in the nation for moral and religious reform, and He was also working outside of the nation with pagan kings, in order to preserve and restore His people. The temple that these people built was eventually expanded into a beautiful edifice in the first century A.D. when Jesus came to it.

Pastor Postiff shares a few passages from Scripture that encourage us to be eagerly awaiting the return of Jesus. In sharing the Table of the Lord, we do so until the Lord comes.

From what Paul writes to the Corinthians, we can learn several ways to respond well when someone corrects us. The recipient of correction must receive admonition well by responding with an open heart, recognizing the challenge that correction offers to the mentor instead of just thinking of self, and reacting with genuine repentance.

Mr. Widgeon re-started our study on God's mercy in Exodus 34:6-7. He shared some statistics on the words used to describe God's mercy to remind us that there is not scant or selective evidence of the mercy of the Lord. It is overwhelming. He then covered some of the Hebrew and Greek words that describe God's tender, loving, compassionate, unmerited kindness. One listener noted that the Bible was like an expert witness testifying of the abundant mercy of God.
