We all know that life is tough sometimes. From broken hearts to papercuts, we have all experienced pain. Sometimes the pain is sharp and acute, other times nagging and chronic. As inevitable as pain is, God also promises comfort and Pastor helps us explore that in this message.

As we read John 15, we see Jesus making the promise that His followers shall be persecuted. The world mistreated Jesus, and so by extension, those who follow Jesus can expect mistreatment. But as we continue in our Promises series, we are reminded of what we need to Know, Remember and Do in the face of persecution.

In John 14: 1-14 Jesus' promise for our troubled heart is one that calms our anxieties and brings us near to God and His power. But we also see that he comforts and gives us confidence that unlocks our understanding of what He promises.

Sanctification is not an everyday word. In fact, it's an idea that has little value in our me-focused, instant gratification world. Yet despite trends, culture, or opinion, being sanctified - being set apart from the world - remains a vital part of our journey with Christ. But what does it look like? How do we begin? And is it even possible to live a life pleasing to God. Only God's creative power can explain the re-creation of people who once lived according to the flesh into people who now live for Christ.

We all know that creation is groaning and that we ourselves groan in a broken world. But did you know that the Spirit of God groans for us as He prays on our behalf to the Father?

In this message of our Promises series, we will see what Jesus means by ask, seek, knock. We will see that it is not trying to twist God’s arm to get what we want. Instead, it is an invitation to a closer walk with our Father in heaven. It means keeping in close communion with the Father, knowing His will, & asking Him to perform His will. This “seek and you will find me” promise is an invitation to a relationship.

We are being promised all sorts of things every day – and so it is not surprising that we have developed a healthy dose of skepticism as we continue to see promises unfulfilled and hearts broken in all areas of life. But God has proved himself trustworthy as he makes promises he keeps. In this message, Pastor John helps us look at two of those promises from God, possibly the hardest promise in the Bible as well as the greatest promise in the Bible, as we continue our summer series, Promises.
