This verse 14 starts a new subsection: verses 14-17. This verse begins with For, meaning that it refers to the section prior. The message Paul is telling us is this: We have assurance of salvation, the absolute certainty of the final perseverance or preservation in Jesus Christ by faith. If we are led by the Spirit, we are sons of God.

In the second portion of 2 Samuel 7, David responded to the great covenant the Lord made with him in the first half of the chapter. David's response to the rich promises he received was to repeat and plead with God to bring those promises about. We also must know and repeat the promises of God in Scripture, and ask the Lord to bring his promises about. He is faithful, He will surely do it.

Worshipping our God is what we were created for. But how do we know how to worship God rightly-- In this chapter, we see three crucial aspects to worship. Worship must be heartfelt, obedient to the Bible, and focused on the Lord. We must worship the way that the Lord has asked us to. Only then will we worship rightly.

We will cover this section over 3 weeks. Last week, Paul covered the negatives, that is for the non Christian. These week we will cover the positives of the Christian life. Paul tells us here that we are in the Spirit and have life and peace -vs 6-. We did not have any of this before we became Christian.-Why peace-- see verse 4- the non Christian cannot please God. The Christian has an answer--peace.
