    Bulletin

On Sunday, we continued our “And” worship series with the story of the Binding of Isaac in Genesis 22. Pastor Nate helped us to see that obedience AND struggle go hand in hand. This is true for Abraham, and in our own lives as well. He said, “Obedient trust and justifiable struggle; our lives are a complex story and they can’t be reduced to just one or the other. Mysteriously, by faith, we hold obedience and struggle.”

    Bulletin

On Sunday, we had our Fall Kick-Off! We began a new worship series, entitled, “And,” we enjoyed the restart to Sunday School for kids 3-years-old through 8th grade, and we had a wonderful picnic lunch following the second worship service with lots of good food and joyful fellowship.

Pastor Ross preached on Genesis 1 and emphasized the “and-ness” of our God. God is a God who is BIG (creator of the mountains, oceans, and the cosmos) AND He is a God who is close (knows and loves each one of us intimately).

Christ the Center | Colossians 1

On Sunday, we brought our Reconnecting & Rising Strong summer sermon series to a close. We had the privilege to hear from Rev. Dr. Ken Eriks as our guest preacher. What a joy it is to continue to glean insight into the scriptures from a previous pastor of Fellowship! Thank you, Ken!

Safe People, Safe Spaces | Ruth 1

On Sunday, we dug deeper into the story of Naomi and Ruth. Pastor Nate emphasized the importance of hesed in this story - hesed is a hebrew word that means love, but it means much more than love, and it's not just a feeling, it's an action. An example of this is in Ruth's love put into action for her mother-in-law. The word hesed made such an impact that it was chosen as our word of the week!

The Only Disciple to Sink | Matthew 14:22-33

On Sunday, Pastor Ross helped us to see that Peter was the only disciple to sink BECAUSE he was the only disciple who got out of the boat in the first place. When we put our trust in Jesus and take steps of faith, we give God the chance to show His faithfulness to us. This story gives way to two great reminders: 1) Jesus is with us through the trials, and 2) we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus instead of getting distracted or discouraged by the waves (trials).

    Life is a Two-Way Street | Luke 7

This past Sunday, we had the privilege to hear from our very own Bryce Vander Stelt, Fellowship's Minister of Youth & Young Adults, as he prayerfully spurred us on to retune our own hearts to God and to come together so that we can, together, sing a song of worship to our Savior.

    Living BIG | Exodus 1

On Sunday, Pastor Ross taught on the risky actions of two lesser known biblical saints, Shiphrah and Puah. We learned that sometimes risk is right and there is great benefit to living BIG: with Boundaries, with Integrity, and with Generosity. Pastor Ross said, “We can live BIG because our God is even BIGGER." What a beautiful comfort that is. Let’s take BIG risks for our BIGGER God and for others.

    Countering Confabulations | Luke 13:1-5

On Sunday, Pastor Nate shared the Word from Luke 13 where Jesus confronts the confabulations that some were making about another group of people. Pastor Nate said, “Confabulations are dangerous because left unchecked or untamed, they lead to the judgment of others and of ourselves. We forget who we are and who we belong to.” As Christians, we have the opportunity to compare the lies of confabulations with the truth that we know in Christ.

In You Must Go | Jonah 1-4

On Sunday, Pastor Ross broke down the book of Jonah into 4 scenes - the shipyard scene, the fish belly scene, the cow-field scene, and the pouty pants scene - each with it’s own lesson to be learned about God’s grace. The highlighted quote of the morning was this: “We christians ought to know God’s grace as well as Bubba Gump knows shrimp.”

There were so many great words submitted for Word of the Week this week! We hope you’ll join in on the fun next week and submit the word you think best describes the sermon. These words are featured on our gallery wall, take a look this Sunday!
