I am talking to you, Dad.
And I am talking to all of you girls and women who have not felt supported in doing something you love.
THIS EPISODE IS FOR ALL OF YOU!
Women and parents turn up the sound and sit down with me and Julia as we discuss this family's inspiring story of how they overcame the heart-breaking and frustrating messages of society that almost broke her daughter's free spirit. Julia takes us through the journey of how she was told that it was wrong for her four-year-old daughter, Juliana, to do the things she loves because she is a girl and how Juliana internalized those messages. Learn what Julia and her husband do to cultivate their daughter's love for tinkering and battle society's narrow-minded messages around what it means to be a girl.

That was when her folks knew she was serious about her career change.

In 2017 she started the Torq'd Clothing line. It is work ware for women with a feminine twist. She wanted to create Torq'd clothing after trying to find durable work clothes that are designed for females. She is currently in the middle of developing version 2 of the pants after her first batch was not exactly what she wanted them to be. The factory is projecting the second version to be completed by mid-July 2019. The sizes that will be offered range from size 2 to size 16. Torq'd clothing currently offers shirts and jackets on their website (https://www.torqdclothing.com/pages/about-us ). The shirts include sayings geared towards female mechanics with sayings like "Not sure if that's grease or mascara" and "love/hate relationship with gear oil".
What themes and advice would you like to share with the Femcanic Garage audience?
"Defy the odds no matter what others tell you, always remember keep the positive thoughts over the negative thoughts. Also always remember to keep your head down and work hard, ignore the comments when people are mean it's because they are jealous of what you have or the attention you are getting. If you work hard and do your job the best of your abilities people will notice even if you don't think anyone does."
