The definition of femicide is as followed:

1. the act of killing a woman, as by a domestic partner or a member of a criminal enterprise:2. the deliberate, wanton violation and massacre of women and girls, as in a particular ethnic group by an invading army.:3. a person who kills a woman:

From a young age, women are taught to be fearful. To be aware of our surroundings. To question motives. We are taught to look over our shoulders. 

We are taught this through generations. The global statistics of women being assaulted, murdered and kidnapped are horrendous. It’s scary to me because it’s now expected, and that every woman you know has their own story or knows someone who has. The stories have become mainstream in the news and on television and in movies. It’s used as entertainment. 

But while the names Ted Bundy, Jack the Ripper or Paul Bernardo are well known and their stories often highlighted, the names of their victims are often forgotten. This podcast aims to shed a light on the abuse, violence and sexual assault that women face by highlighting past and present true crime stories.
