According to the 2016 census, out of all Torontonians that reported cycling as their primary mode of transportation, only 38 per cent of those were female. This week on FemRadio, we learn about an organization that is looking to change that, and diversify the male-dominated world of bicycle mechanics. Charlie FreeWheels offers a variety of free programming that teaches the basics of bike mechanics, and one of those is the Girls & Trans Build-a-Bike program. FemRadio's Robyn Simon chats with Lead Mechanic at Charlie's, Ainsley Naylor about bike mechanics, discrimination in the cycling world and how important it is to keep your tires properly pumped!
And Emily, Karina and Meera chat about getting out the vote, supporting indigenous youth, and bird poop.
