  • The Corporate Media: Weed #1 (FV Ep. 18)
We don’t get free off bad intel, beloveds. Let’s take your focus back from the vampiric media outlets that infiltrate nervous systems & pollute minds 4 ratings & short-term gains. Their sellout pundits are so busy trying 2 get theirs that they’re forsaking any hope of vision, wisdom, or grounding. Let’s resist fear-mongering click-bait. And boundary ourselves from even more corporate talking points brainwashing us than has already happened. Freeing up attention 4 what we actually need 2 know 2 make informed decisions + generally know what’s up.

  • K-VIBE on Pedals of Liberation (FV ep. 15)
Tune in for this wonderful dialogue with Dr. Jeffrey Acido and a group of young men from K-VIBE to learn about the liberatory work they’re doing at this visionary bike shop. Opened in 2005 as part of Kōkua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services' commitment to providing community-based health initiatives that honor the development of personal relationships and respect for cultural values, the Kalihi Valley Instructional Bike Exchange (K-VIBE) uses bicycling to promote physical and emotional well-being by fostering healthy and sustainable relationships between youth leaders, the community and the land. We discuss how this popular educational space builds self-awareness among youth in Hawai‘i on the island of O‘ahu. In particular, find out about the Nakem pedagogy they practice. It’s an Indigenous Ilokano approach to teaching that values land, body, & language. With this practice, they’re encouraging folks to live a holistic healthy life that involves self-love and even healing masculinities.

  • Quill Violet Christie-Peters on Decolonizing Sexuality thru Painting (FV Ep. 14)
Quill Violet Christie-Peters & I dialogue about decolonizing sexuality thru visual art in this episode. She’s an Anishinaabe arts programmer and self-taught visual artist currently residing in Thunder Bay. She is the creator of the Indigenous Youth Residency Program, an artist residency for Indigenous youth that relies on a radically relational praxis that allows youth to reclaim relationships to self, homeland, ancestors and community while exploring land-based arts practices. Quill holds a masters degree in Indigenous Governance on Anishinaabe art-making as a practice of falling in love and sits on the board of directors for Native Women in the Arts. In her free time, she paints and writes about self-love and self-pleasure as resistance to the settler colonial project and is very interested in exploring the body as a site of ancestors/homelands/creation.

I’m in dialogue with Carol Rojas about her experience at this historic event, including the somatics of anticapitalism, the importance of connecting with other freedom fighters who’ve devoted their lives to the struggle, the nourishment of separatist spaces, and the always invigorating inspiration of the companeras of the EZLN who’re throwing down as hard today as they’ve ever been for their land, liberation, & autonomy. Why sell out or give up when we could just overthrow capitalist patriarchy already?
