A doctor told her she was going to die in two weeks. On this weeks episode, Geena invites professional dancer Ferly Prado on The Geena The Latina Show to talk about life on the road as a dancer for some of the biggest celebs, surviving an eating disorder after a doctor told her she only had two weeks to live, the pressure of body standards, and identity.
Ferly was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil where she began dancing at a very young age at her mothers academy. As a professional dancer, Ferly has worked with world renowned artists and companies like Beyonce, Tina Turner, and Cher; and has performed on award shows such as the American Music Awards, the Billboard Awards, the Latin BillBoard Awards, the VMAs, and ACMAs. Ferly’s choreography graced many sets and stages including Mariah Carey’s Las Vegas Residency and Katy Perry’s ‘Rock in Rio’. She has appeared in several music videos for artists like Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and more.
In this episode, Geena will open up about her personal struggle with an eating disorder. They discuss the societal pressures placed on physical appearance and the effect that has on your mental health.
Ferly has now added nutritionist to her resume and will discuss how understanding your relationship with food from an informational standpoint instead of from a good or bad aspect will completely transform your life. Ferly has put Team 3XT on hold, and is now operating under the PRADO Program, a dance and fitness brand designed to take ‘9-5 women’ and ‘stay at home moms’ from their day-to-day to the stage and film sets.
