  • Vayishlech || He Sent || וישלח

Precept upon precept, line by line reading. Week 8 Torah Portion - Vayishlech (He Sent) Genesis 32:3-36:43. Translation: את Cepher

    (11.28.23)

Jacob returns to the Holy Land after a 20-year stay in Charan, and sends angel-emissaries to Esau in hope of a reconciliation, but his messengers report that his brother is on the warpath with 400 armed men. Jacob prepares for war, prays, and sends Esau a large gift (consisting of hundreds of heads of livestock) to appease him.

That night, Jacob ferries his family and possessions across the Jabbok River; he, however, remains behind and encounters the angel that embodies the spirit of Esau, with whom he wrestles until daybreak. Jacob suffers a dislocated hip but vanquishes the supernal creature, who bestows on him the name Israel, which means “he who prevails over the divine.”

Jacob and Esau meet, embrace and kiss, but part ways. Jacob purchases a plot of land near Shechem, whose crown prince—also called Shechem—abducts and rapes Jacob’s daughter Dinah. Dinah’s brothers Simeon and Levi avenge the deed by killing all male inhabitants of the city, after rendering them vulnerable by convincing them to circumcise themselves.

Jacob journeys on. Rachel dies while giving birth to her second son, Benjamin, and is buried in a roadside grave near Bethlehem. Reuben loses the birthright because he interferes with his father’s marital life. Jacob arrives in Hebron, to his father Isaac, who later dies at age 180. (Rebecca has passed away before Jacob’s arrival.)

Our Parshah concludes with a detailed account of Esau’s wives, children and grandchildren; the family histories of the people of Seir, among whom Esau settled; and a list of the eight kings who ruled Edom, the land of Esau’s and Seir’s descendants.

Blessings and Shalom beloved beautiful family in Yahuah! Happy 2nd day! I pray blessings for your day and those ahead!

Yahuah, we praise you and thank you for your miracles! Thank you for healing us, correcting us, loving us as we need! Father, help your children understand that love from you is not always giving us our way or our wants! We want your way Father, Yahs way, not the world's way, not our way, we want you in our lives guiding us. Help us listen to brethren who are loving us enough to help us course correct and not get offended or shut down or walk away. We submit our lives to you Yahuah so help us submit our flesh and tame our emotions like a Lion in a circus. To gain self control as you instruct. Father, we are so weak in our flesh so please be our strength and our cloud by day and fire by night to guide us in your will and way! We love you Yahuah and Yahusha with our mind, heart, and soul, and our strength ! In Yahusha Ha'Mashiach name we pray, let it be so!

Please join me at 10 am est for Morning Manna as I discuss Love:our wants vs needs. What is scriptural love ? Is it always warm and fuzzy? What is the love modern churches teach? Are they the same? How do we understand the love Yahusha spoke about? Let's look at some scripture to find out!

  • Vayetse || He Went Out || ויצא

Precept upon precept, line by line reading. Week 7 Torah Portion - Vayetse (He Went Out) Genesis 28:10-32:3. Translation: את Cepher

    (11.21.23)

Jacob leaves his hometown of Beersheba and journeys to Charan. On the way, he encounters “the place” and sleeps there, dreaming of a ladder connecting heaven and earth, with angels climbing and descending on it; G‑d appears and promises that the land upon which he lies will be given to his descendants. In the morning, Jacob raises the stone on which he laid his head as an altar and monument, pledging that it will be made the house of God. We look at the correlation with the Divine DNA in man and the continual effort to deface it and create a new “image” by the fallen angels and how this relates to us today!

In Haran, Jacob stays with and works for his uncle Laban, tending Laban’s sheep. Laban agrees to give him his younger daughter, Rachel—whom Jacob loves—in marriage, in return for seven years’ labor. But on the wedding night, Laban gives him his elder daughter, Leah, instead—a deception Jacob discovers only in the morning. Jacob marries Rachel, too, a week later, after agreeing to work another seven years for Laban.

Leah gives birth to six sons—Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun—and a daughter, Dinah, while Rachel remains barren. Rachel gives Jacob her handmaid, Bilhah, as a wife to bear children in her stead, and two more sons, Dan and Naphtali, are born. Leah does the same with her handmaid, Zilpah, who gives birth to Gad and Asher. Finally, Rachel’s prayers are answered and she gives birth to Joseph.

Jacob has now been in Charan for fourteen years, and wishes to return home. But Laban persuades him to remain, now offering him sheep in return for his labor. Jacob prospers, despite Laban’s repeated attempts to swindle him. After six years, Jacob leaves Charan in stealth, fearing that Laban would prevent him from leaving with the family and property for which he labored. Laban pursues Jacob, but is warned by G‑d in a dream not to harm him. Laban and Jacob make a pact on Mount Gal-Ed, attested to by a pile of stones, and Jacob proceeds to the Holy Land, where he is met by angels.

  • Morning Manna || My ways are higher

Daily bread to feed our Ruach.

    Leigh Caruthers

    (11.17.23)

Shalom beloved family in Yahuah! It has been a long week and I am so thankful for Sabbath rest coming. A time to lean into the Father and let him comfort us and heal our wounds and calm our minds. Great is his mercy and love for us! HalleluYah for the risen King Yahusha who returns again!

Yahuah, thank you for everything and everyone! How great is it that you created each person in your will and for your delight and that we all fit together to form the body of Yahusha! We are all on equal and level floor there and I pray for the day when there are no walls to separate, no this side or that side, but only the body of Yahusha working together as is your design, desire and will! I pray we can all focus on what is your desire and will Yahuah. Help us see with kingdom focused eyes and not the eyes associated with our flesh. Let our heart and mind be connected to your will and not of our flesh. Father, please strengthen and encourage us along this narrow path. Give us your shalom Father for we are weary! And in all things help us not to forget what Yahusha endured for each of us making every person a child of yours! In Yahusha Ha'Mashiach perfect name we pray, let it be so and let your Kingdom come!!

Please join me on Morning Manna at 10 am est as I discuss a word from Yahuah . Satan wants to pull us down but Yahuah tells us, "My ways are higher." Let's be lifted together!
