Following the miracle of prophecy from the believers to the miracle of Peter's sermon, it's been all about calling people to a response. God desires to save people and bring them into a new covenant and a new blessing, if only they would adopt a new identity built around the position and power of Jesus. Acts 2:37-41.

With the audience now comprehending that the End Times are upon them, Peter now clarifies the NAME by which man must call upon to be saved from His judgment. It's about Jesus and Preaching. Acts 2:22-36.

Peter rises to address the crowd in three pertinent areas of theology. The first is the explanation for the miracle of "tongues." Turning to a little known prophet (Joel), Peter addressed WHY this miracle has taken place. Acts 2:14-21.

It's not about You. With the attention of the crowd upon them, the disciples need to decide how to respond to a hostile mob. Peter rises to the occasion despite his tragic history. Acts 2:14, John 21.

Continuing with the possibility that Pentecost in Acts 2 ushered in a new/ great law, through a new/greater Moses, to a new/greater Israel, we examine the audience of Pentecost. Luke goes to great lengths to emphasis that ALL ISRAEL was present. What does this mean? Acts 2:5-13 and Romans 9 & 11.

Luke simply declares that the Holy Spirit arrived on the Jewish festival day of Pentecost. While brief on the description, the historical background of this day implies both spiritual and theological implications. Acts 2:1-4

After witnessing the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, the believers return to Jerusalem to await & seek the promised Holy Spirit. Before His arrival, however, they must first be prepared to meet Him. This requires submission & obedience to authority. Acts 1:12-26.

The book of Acts serves as a "proof-text" for the Christian life. With the work of Jesus completed on the cross, it is now up for the world to hear and receive His salvation. God has left this job up to His WITNESSES as they are empowered by the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:1-11)
