The Fiascos enjoy a nice period piece as much as anybody. The splendid manors,
the elaborate dresses, the fetters of mannered company. But that’s the sort of
movie we watched this time. Instead, it’s that sordid and barbaric look at a
time of very uncivil acts, Michael Reeves’ Witchfinder General (1968).
