"But I have a few complaints against you." Imagine hearing or reading that from Jesus! How difficult would it be to cling to the amazing compliment He paid in the previous line. This underlines the nature of faithful vigilance in the life of the church. Pergamum maintains many good things but has also allowed a small foothold of evil within their ranks. Jesus calls us to repent of our evil instead of trying to balance it out with more good. 

We all desire a new name from Jesus!

Jesus acknowledged their suffering and poverty and all those who came against them and called on them to continue to endure for He is faithful and will gift them with the crown of life. The second letter, while short, packs a punch!
