Miguel Angel Garcia Cortez (born December 15, 1987), best known as Mikey Garcia, is an American professional boxer.[1][2] He is a world champion in four weight classes, having held the WBC lightweight title since January 2017, and the unified IBF lightweight title since July 2018. Previously he held the WBO and The Ring magazine featherweight titles in 2013, the WBO junior lightweight title from 2013 to 2014, and the IBF and lineal light welterweight titles in 2018. He has also held the IBF lightweight title since July 2018.
As of May 2018, Garcia is ranked as the world's fifth best active boxer, pound for pound, by The Ring;[3] the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board;[4] the Boxing Writers Association of America;[5] and ESPN.[6] He is trained by his father Eduardo and his brother, former world champion Robert Garcia.[7][8][9] A well rounded fighter, Mikey is known as a boxer-puncher with strong fundamentals, formidable punching power, and adaptability.
