Reducing crime is one of the seven National Key Results Area under the Government Transformation Program. And one of the initiatives is to increase the safety perception index which includes increasing police presence, awareness campaigns and improving communication between the police and people to foster better ties. As a result of this initiative, the PDRM designed MyDistress - a smartphone app which sends an emergency signal to request assistance from the police with a tap of an icon.
