It's not a question of "if" but "when." When will I get into a conflict with someone? If you're alive and breathing, conflict is simply built into human interaction. There is no avoiding it. Which I why Peter's question to Jesus in this Sunday's Gospel reading is stunningly practical: "If my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive?" (Matthew 18:21) It's not easy to live out the forgiveness Jesus commands us to follow. In fact, I dare say, we must fight to forgive if we want to reach our saintly potential.
