Did you know that despite being highly influential, culturally cognizant, academically effective, Black males make up just 2% of K-12 teachers in the US? As the classroom becomes more diverse, students of color deserve to see themselves not only reflected in the materials covered but also in the teachers and school leaders showing up for them each day. This week, we sit down with Maurice Blackmon, an inspiring high school English teacher in Brooklyn, NY who integrates social justice, advocacy, and community activism into his pedagogy and with the help of his students, started their schools first Black Student Union!

So . . . now what? I'm done with classes and graduation is still a few weeks away. Actually having downtime feels . . . odd. I'm getting used to the idea of not having work to do and not being on campus anymore. It's bittersweet, but also exciting to know what's ahead!

I submitted and defended my senior thesis paper!! I've put so much time and work into getting it done this semester, but am so happy to say that I'm officially DONE with undergrad! There's a ton of moving pieces to life right now, but they're all heading in a good direction.
