Like it or not, the media has incredible power. The power to amplify an issue or to silence one. The power to rally people behind a cause or fight against one. With that power comes great responsibility – the obligation to be fearless, factual and fair. But when it comes to LGBTIQ issues, that is not always the reality.

One country that is tackling head-on the way LGBTIQ people are seen in the media is Fiji. They have recently run a training and engagement workshop with journalists organised by the Pacific Sexual and Gender Diversity Network. Their CEO, Isikeli Vulavou, joined us to explain how it went.
