FileMaker Talk - Just talking about FileMaker

Matt and Matt discuss iPad, some cool techniques, the huge update to Theme Library, and how the ScriptMaster plug-in from 360Works makes so much more possible to the FileMaker developer.

John Sindelar, Matt Petrowsky and Matt Navarre discuss the features of FileMaker Pro Eleven, especially those that apply to developers.

Matt and Matt talk to a small crowd at the Pause on Error unconference. We give each person 2 minutes to talk about something cool they saw at Pause, and talk about our overall impressions of the event. Then 2 weeks later, we talk to one of the organizers of PoE, Andy Gaunt about his take. (Pardon Matt N who repeats himself a bit between segments)

We return to perhaps our most popular topic: Value-based billing. This is a followup discussion with Jonathan Stark and Kirk Bowman. Warning: This episode is all business, and contains no techie geeky stuff. Kirk is making the transition from Hourly to Value-based billing, so we chart his progress and discuss the challenges.

Jonathan Stark is a consultant in Providence, RI, and recently published Building iPhone Apps with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

John Overton is the founder of eConnectix. They introduced Xpress for FileMaker at DevCon. This solution combines a FileMaker 10 Server with a turn-key backup solution in one box. It's so fast that backups now complete in about 1 second.

Part 2 of a live recording of an un-conference at DevCon 2009. This is a panel discussion where Matt Navarre moderated a discussion about how to succeed as a consultant. The panel contained Molly Connolly, Kirk Bowman, Jesse Barnum, and Jonathan Stark. We talked about value-based vs. hourly billing, project management, quality assurance, proposal generation, and how to make sure life and work are in balance.
