Living in America, these are the common issues and points of tension we see in our FilAm churches these days. But as Pastor Glenn Plastina said, "Tension is an opportunity for growth". Join us as we dialogue about these topics and gain more clarity on God's call for our FilAm churches.

Our guest for this episode is Dr. Glenn Plastina! He is the lead church planter of Point Church Filipino, currently in Crabtree Valley of Raleigh, while serving as the International Network Leader of The Triangle Church Network (formerly Point Church).

Glenn authored and published several books. He’s also a singer-songwriter. But above all, he loves listening to people’s life journey, preaching the Word of God, and pointing people to Jesus.

Becoming a multiethnic church has been a desire for many ethnic churches particularly so with Filipino American churches who already do their services in English. It comes from a desire to want to reach their community and be more inclusive. There are also many interracial marriages in Filipino American churches which encourage this.

But what is the cost of becoming multiethnic? And what are the benefits of becoming multiethnic? What does it look like for a Filipino American church to become multiethnic?

In this video, we interview Pastor AJ Camota, Associate Pastor of International Christian Fellowship. There he is leading the way in helping his church reach out to their local community and reflect the local ethnic diversity in Rockland County, NY. At ICF, Pastor AJ spearheads evaluation and transition in this effort. He also has a long experience with 2nd gen discipleship. Within the SBC, he works with the Asian American Collective as part of the Core Team. Pastor AJ Camota lives with his wife, Renate and two daughters, Noa and Ora.

In this episode, we interview Pastor Ralph Garay, SendNC International Church Planting Strategist with The Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. We discuss how he got into church planting, the value of ethnic churches, and how to transition into becoming a multiethnic church. Pastor Ralph also shares his thoughts about the Silent Exodus of the second generation from their home churches, how FilAm church leaders should think about it, and how important discipleship is in all of this!

Pastor Ralph Garay joined the North Carolina Baptist Church Planting Team in September 2006. He works with church planters in North Carolina that represent 42 countries and 84 language groups. He also serves as the President of the Filipino International Mission Board (FIMB) USA.

He is originally from the Philippines where he received his bachelor’s degree in theology at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary in Baguio City, Philippines, in 1987. He then immigrated with his wife, Anna Lyn, to the United States in June 1995. He pastored a Filipino-American church in San Diego for 11 years. Ralph and his wife have two boys, Paulo and Philippe.

Ralph’s mission in life is to:

In this episode, we interview Pastor JP Arceno, lead pastor of Union Community Bible Church (UCBC) in New Jersey. We talk about the challenges and strengths of pastoring as a young millennial pastor. He also shares about his current research topics in digital theology.

A lot of adults have asked us variations of this question over the years. It comes from a desire to connect with and minister to their kids. Many times there seems to be a gap between the first and second generation. Other times, the second generation can appear to be disengaged from the rest of the church. Because their needs aren't met, many of the second generation end up leaving their home church.
