Community leaders are speaking out in order to protect funding for violence prevention programs.
Episcopal Bishop Bonnie Perry, who serves as President of End Gun Violence Michigan, was among those to speak at a Zoom meeting. Monday, one day after a horrific mass shooting in Grand Blanc.
Perry said these life-saving programs are on the line as Michigan's budget debate is getting close to a critical deadline. Advocates are calling on lawmakers to approve $5.8 million in the Senate budget for Community Violence Intervention programs.
