This is the Preface to the Preface to a book you may not know about, the Book of Commandments. This, literally, little book is the precursor to the Doctrine and Covenants and it has a big story to tell.

We will be exploring the Joseph Smith Papers, so what are they, how did we get them, and how much effort was put into making them possible? I hope to show how great this work is and a few fascinating ideas to keep us going.
