This week we couldn't have picked two more contrasting films! This episode of the podcast was recorded in between the times our neighbour's burglar alarm was going off! First up we have the Barbie movie - Greta Gerwig's take on the iconic children's toy, we talk about the cast and some of the controversy that has reared its ugly head, the vibe we had at our cinema experience at the Nottingham Showcase and keep it spoiler-free as much as we can.

The second movie we chose for this week was the George A. Romero 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead. The film that really started the modern iteration of the zombie movie. Does it still hold up today? We share our views - very mild spoilers in this review of the well-known horror classic.

This was a bit more of a challenging week for the lad and his Dad as we take a look at action thriller Black Lotus starring Rico Verhoeven and Frank Grillo, the unusual fantasy horror from Brazil - Medusa directed by Anita Rocha de Silveira and Supercell starring Skeet Ulrich, Alec Baldwin and the late Anne Heche. We also chatted about why The Flash movie, reviewed in the last edition of the podcast, has tanked so heavily at the Box office despite being an excellent comic-book movie.

Where the hell have we been? Asked no-one! It's been tricky scheduling, but the lad and the Dad have finally been able to watch a couple of movies with multi-versal origins! First up, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the sequel to the dazzling Into The Spider-Verse - a personal favourite for us, could this second part of the trilogy surpass the heights of the previous one? Second up, The Flash - DC's troubled superhero movie starring Ezra Miller in the titular role - and someone who's proven to be a significant headache for studio bosses. The DCU's James Gunn called it one of the best superhero movies ever, but do we agree?

On the week when the Dad turned 50, the lad took him to see Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. Find out what we thought about the film, which turned out to be a little longer than we expected it to be! Has James Gunn delivered a masterpiece? Is it the film to resurrect the MCU from the doldrums? It's no secret we are suckers for a good Marvel show/movie, but it has been a little off the boil of late... so suit up, tuck in and have a listen to our musings.

This week we delve into a couple of real horror gems with the 2022 sleeper hit Smile (now on Paramount+) and Evil Dead requel Evil Dead Rise at the cinema. We also take a peek at trailers for Insidious 5, Talk to Me, and an interesting new action flick from Robert Rodriguez starring Ben Affleck - Hypnotic. Plus, Andy (the Dad) goes off on one about cinema etiquette.
