“"Hi, my name is Victoria! I recently graduated from the University of Southern California’s Animation MFA program, where I created my thesis film “trueself.exe”. I am grateful and thrilled that “trueself.exe” premiered as an Official Selection at SWIFF 2023, and that it received a Semi-Finalist Award in the Best Super short film category.

“true_self.exe” is about a young woman who becomes obsessed with the perfect alter ego inside of her computer, and how she must embrace her insecurities in order to free herself from the ego’s overbearing pull. It is a coming of age piece which explores women’s self-image in a digital age, and I hope that it provides a cathartic experience to anyone who watches it.

I love working on any project which gives me the opportunity to draw, paint, and design! I am attracted to stories which are heartfelt and psychological, so I enjoy creating character moments which reflect the inner-emotional experience. I strive to produce relatable characters and worlds which stimulate self-reflection. I hope that my stories can authentically represent diverse perspectives, empowering both women and underrepresented communities. My dream is to reach a place where I can share many meaningful projects through a number of artistic outlets."”

“Xudong Liu (director/cinematographer/editor) was born in Shanghai. He has been working in the film industry for over 7 years. He produced over 100 documentaries from all walks of life and featured underrepresented people in unconventional ways, which also convinced him that even the most ordinary characters deserve attention. His documentary production experience involves China, Japan, Thailand, and the United States. After coming to Boston in 2021, his recent films were officially selected by the San Fransisco Documentary Film Festival, Human Rights & Arts Film Festival, Newburyport Documentary Film Festival, etc.

Menglian Tang (producer) is experienced in process management and business management, and just finished her MBA degree. Menglian is a skilled needle-felting artist, painter, and calligrapher, which leads her to stories with artistic themes. She especially cares about the female social impact as a female producer.”

My stories hopefully represent us, but also let us Indian kids be more than just that. I search for different vibes to express in my films, while also letting Desi kids have the forbidden romances and be the heroic leaders we have so long been denied.”
