Chartchai is a Thai director, actor, editor, producer, writer, and sound recordist. He is known for his work on various films and TV shows, such as:
- From Bangkok to Mandalay (2016), a romantic drama about a Thai woman who falls in love with a Burmese man while traveling in Myanmar.
- The Mother (2019), a horror thriller about a mother who tries to protect her daughter from a mysterious entity that haunts their house.
- Dragon Pond Monster (2020), a fantasy adventure about a young boy who befriends a dragon that lives in a pond near his village.
- My Quarantine Days (2020), a comedy series about the lives of different people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Insects in the Backyard (2010), a drama about a transgender father and his two children who struggle with their identities and relationships.
Chartchai Ketnust has also collaborated with other Thai filmmakers, such as Tanwarin Sukkhapisit, Anucha Boonyawatana, and Kongdej Jaturanrasamee. He has won several awards and nominations for his work, such as the Best Director award at the Bangkok Critics Assembly Awards for From Bangkok to Mandalay and the Best Film award at the Thailand National Film Association Awards for The Mother.
One of his well-known works is "The Only Mom," a Burmese horror film released in 2019. The movie, starring Nine Nine, Wutt Hmone Shwe Yi, Daung, and Pyae Pyae, was produced by Brave Empire Film Production. It premiered in Myanmar on February 8, 2019, and became one of the highest-grossing Burmese films of the year. "The Only Mom" was exhibited in Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and other countries. The film was well-received for its horror elements and the performances of its actors. It earned significant box office revenue, grossing $4.8 million worldwide.
Another notable film directed by Ketnust is "From Bangkok to Mandalay," a collaborative film between Myanmar and Thailand. Released in 2016, it starred Sai Sai Kham Leng, Pilaiporn Supinchompoo, Nay Toe, and Wutt Hmone Shwe Yi. The screenplay was co-written by Ketnust and Pattana Chirawong. This film explores themes of love across different classes and was inspired by the novel "Pisat" by Seni Saowaphong.
Chartchai Ketnust's work, particularly in the horror genre, has contributed significantly to the Burmese film industry, and his films have been recognized for their commercial success and artistic merit.
