FilmLive.TV talks to world-renowned cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos who tells us about the role a cinematographer has in the making of a film. They are the director’s right hand person and have a huge responsibility in getting the image onto the screen.

In the second part of this episode FilmLive.TV catches up with Ted Schilowitz (also known as Red Ted) from Red Digital Cinema. He tells us about the history of the Red Camera, how it came into existence and gives a 4K image. He also talks about why people are now choosing the Red Camera to get motion quality images.

FilmLive.TV Caught up with the cast and crew from Running in Traffic, a film about two damaged lives obliviously running parallel in the same city.

First we spoke to writer, producer, and star of the film Bryan Larkin and the film’s producer Mark Twynholm who discuss the story and the processes of making the film. Bryan spoke about the importance of passion and collaboration over finances, and how to overcome challenges that will be inevitably met throughout the course of production. Larkin also offers advice on executing a project.

Then we meet the cast and crew on the red carpet, all expressing their excitement to be there, and commenting on what was their best and worst moments of the whole process.

FilmLive.TV Spoke to the Oscar winning producer Lord David Puttnam about making the most of your big break, and the difficulty one may face from going from film school into mainstream employment.

We spoke to Yen Yau, the Strategic Partnership Manager from First Light Movies, about funding and distribution in the UK and working with young people who want to make a short film, and Geraldine Heaney, a young Filmmaker about the processes of making her short film Mothering Nature. Jonathan Charles from Dfiefo talks about the importance of the presentation of the final screening of your film. Following the event ‘Short Sighted’ we spoke to Brian Newman CEO of the Tribeca Film Institute offers his advice for getting your film out beyond festivals, and what aspects he looked for in films. Katie Metcalfe from Future Shorts spoke to us about the importance of having a story in order to sell a film, and offers tips to keep buyers interested. Satwant Gill from the British Council also offered advice on how to achieve success with your Short Film

FilmLive.TV Spoke to new Filmmaker Gary Thomas who discusses this year’s festival, his current project Early One Summer and his views on the development process of fimmaking. Also Will Massa from the Northwest Vision and Media spoke about what he looked for in new filmmakers, particularly in young writers.

Caroline Paterson and Stuart Davids, directors of Wasted, spoke to us about directing in a different way and their thoughts on filmmaking in Scotland. Choosing to go against the traditional development process of filmmaking, Paterson and Davids discuss why they chose to direct an improvised script, their preferences for ‘Instant’ filmmaking and what the future holds in store for them.

Finally Director Richard Kwietniowski, Owning Mahoney, discusses the event ‘Anatomy of a scene’ in which the dynamics between actor and director were played out in front of an audience. Kwietniowski discussed the importance of the actors and emphasises collaboration as a key factor in the filmmaking process. Kwietniowski also spoke about the relationship between the script to the film it would become.
