Films & Filth

We're at the end of the fast and furious road for now, as we talk about the film that was supposed to be part one of the finale whose cliffhanger may get resolved in one movie, two movies, or something completely different, I guess we'll tentatively see you for Fast Forever in 2028, but before that we're getting back to the top 100 and bottom 100 rated films on IMDB

Suddenly Dom is a criminal! No not like that, he's not stealing DVD players, he's stealing nuclear launch codes. But for family, just not the family he can talk about right now. But really you're asking yourself "do they actually launch a nuke?" and also "is that even close to the biggest action set piece in the film?" and you'll just have to listen to find out.

You thought this franchise had peaked already? Think again. Cars parachute out of airplanes, drive between buildings, you get two head on collisions, Dom lifts a car, there's another computer chip that does something, and we're on our second Shaw of many. Rest in power Paul Walker, we'll see you again (digitally)

There's a baby now so the family's bigger, but so are the stakes, and so are the explosions, and so are the fights, and so is that tank and that plane and so on, and for the first time we have a Hobbs and a Shaw together onscreen (not that Shaw though, not yet)  Friend of the pod Devin Carlen joins us because a big movie deserves a big podcast.

For this one it's not the quality of the fast but the quantity, and all the furious is wrapped up in one frustrated and problematic truck driver. We take a break from the break we were taking from the main podcast to get into this 1954 Roger Corman-produced tawdry crime flick, because there's nothing better than diverting from the scenic route to take another, slower scenic route.

It's time for the peak installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, or at least the first peak of several, and it's always hard to talk about good films but we do our best.
