  • Episode 74: SHUTTER ISLAND
It took seventy-four episodes, but Andrew and Dave finally take a look at a Martin Scorsese film! Specifically, the duo take a look at Scorsese's SHUTTER ISLAND, the 2010 mystery-thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio. What do the pair make of the film? How quickly do the pair spoil the film (as well as about twenty others)? And why the hell does Donnie Iris come up? Tune in and find out!

Next Episode: Apparently, there was a time when a drunk Van Morrison appearing on stage with another act was considered significant. Who knew?

  • Episode 73: ALEXANDER (2004)
Abandoning fictional ancient history for real ancient history (sort of), Andrew and Dave take a look at director Oliver Stone's 2004 misfire ALEXANDER, which looks at the life of Alexander the Great. More specifically, the duo look at ALEXANDER: THE FINAL CUT, Stone's three-hour plus re-edit of the film, which is not, despite the subtitle, the final cut of the film. Will the pair be able to survive the film's bloated running time? How problematic are the sexual and racial politics of the film? What the heck was Stone thinking while he made this film, anyway? Tune in and find out!

Next Episode: I wouldn't trust HUAC with mental health issues either.

  • Episode 72: CONAN THE BARBARIAN (1982)
Andrew and Dave are joined by special guest Eric Jones in this episode of Films(trips)!

In this episode, the trio take a look at writer and director John Milius' 1982 film CONAN THE BARBARIAN, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Earl Jones! Is the film simply a nihilistic riff on the standard hero's quest narrative, or a disturbingly reactionary adventure story? Is young Arnold blown out of the water by the rest of the cast, or does Milius find a way for the onetime body building champion to hold his own? And what the heck does Bob Fosse have to do with this film? Tune in and find out!

Next Episode: What could possibly go wrong when a studio give Oliver Stone $150 million dollars?

  • Episode 70: DRACULA (1979)
Andrew and Dave return from the eighth dimension this week to take a look at director John Badham's DRACULA, which is NOT an adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel of the same name. Rather, the film is an adaptation of a stage play adapted from Stoker's novel. What will the duo make of the sexed up version of the titular character? Is Sir Lawrence Olivier's performance delightful, or just awful? And how many times will Dave remind you all that Sylvester McCoy is in the cast? Tune in and find out!

Next Episode: Andrew and Dave would invite you over to the Films(trips) office, but then you'd get a look at the big board. We can't have that happening.

How much of a brick wall does Andrew hit with this film? How many mixed metaphors will Dave unintentionally speak over the course of the episode? And why the hell does Paul Blart come up so often? Tune in and find out!
