In hour two, the guys welcome on our WMDX newsperson Savanna Tomei-Olson for her Big Story of the day, all about the federal offices DOGE plans to close in Dane County, a whopping 16 in number. In Newsman Johnny's corner, his Big Story revolves around (a few) Republicans standing up to Trump and Musk, demanding that congress be involved with DOGE's activities. We check in with our WMDX meteorologist Brittney Merlot for a check of the weather, and chat about problems with Bank's rushed implementation of Zelle. Since the CFPB has been kneecapped, the fraud from these rushed implementations is being left largely unaddressed. Later, after some chatter about John's history as a handyman, the discussion turns to the national debt - how we could pay it down, and even lift the entire country out of poverty - if we tax the rich. Yet, the current administration continues gunning for another trillion-dollar tax cut. Wrapping up today's show, the boss, Kathryn, joins us in the studio for some loving beratement of our beloved morning team.
