Final Fantasy: The Post Show Recap

Final Fantasy 5 | One Last Job

Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Brooklyn Zed (@HardRockHope) play the “Final Fantasy” video games and then podcast about their experiences for the listeners of Post Show Recaps.

This week, Josh and Zed return after some time away from the podcast. Since last we met, Zed’s Twitch career has taken off, with a full playthrough of “Final Fantasy 5,” among other games. Just one problem: Zed beat “Final Fantasy 5,” and hated every second of it! This is their report on why “Final Fantasy 5” isn’t just Zed’s least favorite “Final Fantasy,” but their least favorite video game, period. Apologies to all “Final Fantasy 5” fans, but this is not the love fest you’re looking for. Good news: the next focus for the podcast should be a much happier time.

This week, Josh and Zed hitch a ride with the Red Wings of Baron to talk about all things “Final Fantasy 4,” originally and confusingly released in the United States as “Final Fantasy 2.” Here, Josh and Zed set forth with Cecil the Dark Knight and his friend Kain the Dragoon on a dangerous mission, one that invites the likes of a summoner, a sage, and a spoony bard.

This week, having just finished “Final Fantasy 2,” Josh and Zed stop down for listener feedback and to weigh in on the original Nintendo era of the franchise. They decided to skip “Final Fantasy 3” for now, and instead start looking ahead to the next assignment: “Final Fantasy 4,” Josh’s sentimental favorite game in the series. Plus, Zed gives takes from their journeys through Eorzea in “Final Fantasy 14.”

This week, Josh and Zed continue their journey through the “Final Fantasy” series, with a full-scale recap of “Final Fantasy I.” Originally, Josh and Zed planned on parsing the first “Final Fantasy” over the course of three podcasts. Instead, Zed beat the game not once, but twice, since they last recorded the podcast. So, next up, a change of plans: Josh and Zed will play and discuss the entirety of “Final Fantasy II.” Looks like we’re marching forward through the series, full steam ahead, in chronological order!
