  • The Power of Keeping It Simple: Using the KISS Method

    Keep. It. Simple.

That's right! This can be the one change, the one philosophy, the one mindset that helps you relieve financial stress and move past overwhelm so you can step into your best financial life.

    If you are someone who

    • feels like they make pretty good money but never seem to have enough
    • feels anxious and overwhelmed about being able to cover all of your costs, bills, etc.
    • gets another package at the door and can't remember what you ordered
    • uses credit to get by month to month because there just isn't enough money to go around

This episode is for you. Here are the big highlights you'll want to absorb:

    • Why we need to change the old "Keep It Simple, S**pid to "Keep It Simple, SWEETHEART"
    • How to build up your inner bandwidth and resources to go ahead and face those hard financial truths and expereince those unpleasant emotions
    • How to treat those hard truths and tough emotions as information--keeping it simple--and not adding more catastrophizing or spiralling out to other shame and blame stories
    • Why we actually need to make some barriers for ourselves when it comes to all the payment methods that are now at our disposal
    • When we Know Where the Money Is Going, we feel relieved, clear, and ready to make the next best financial decision for ourselves

  • It's Not You, It's the System: Practicing Financial Feminism with Jillian Knight

When we see ourselves as individuals participating in systems that were not designed for us, we start to understand that the challenges we face are not some type of personal flaw or deficit--this insight is especially true for women and money!

In this episode, I talk with Jillian Knight, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in Financial Therapy. She is the owner of Her Financial Therapy, PLLC., a virtual psychotherapy practice serving clients in North Carolina and South Carolina. • Healing Ancestral Money Wounds with Priya Kumar

In this episode, I sit down with Priya Kumar, Financial Strategist about "Healing Ancestral Money Wounds." This conversation covers many areas: trauma, healing, money mindset, empowerment. Here are my favorite highlights:

    • Priya's experience of exploring and healing her ancestral money wounds
    • How trauma healing isn't perfect, and wholeness is about showing up as our full selves in this moment rather than reaching some type of ideal
    • Ways we can explore our relationship with money by "titrating"—going slowly and investigating it drop by drop so we don't overwhelm ourselves
    • Practical steps you can take to explore your money trauma and ancestral wounds to get more clarity on what you've inherited from your family/cultural of origin
    • Our relationship with money doesn't have to be just about tension and strife—we can find balance in that relationship and use money as a tool to appreciate ourselves

  • Why Is Money So Damn Emotional?

Money and Emotions: The struggle is REAL, y'all!

In this episode, I talk about money as a tool to support our surviving and thriving and those goals as being inextricably linked to our emotions. Our bodies hold our past stresses and traumas and emotions around money are connected to stress and trauma.

I also talk about the protective supports we can build in our everyday lives to build resilience in the face of strong and unpleasant emotions around money.

  • Barbie and Financial Autonomy for Women

"Barbie has her own money..." is one of the first lines in Barbie the Movie.

In this episode, I gush over Barbie the Movie and its connection to Financial Autonomy for Women. I discuss how the movie addresses:

    • How women, as Barbies, can liberate each other rather than being pitted against each other in the patriarchal model
    • How our challenges helps us become more human
    • What happens when we forget our financial autonomy
    • That Autonomy is our natural state and our birthright

Spoiler alert--if you haven't seen the movie yet, this episode is a spoiler.

    Enjoy!

  • Demystifying Real Estate with Rose Cabral

In this episode, I sit down with Rose Cabral, regenerative real estate agent and community advocate. Rose has niched her real estate practice down to single women, creatives, activists and anyone that has historically been left out of home ownership.

In this episode we talk about her work to "demystify" real estate--to break down the jargon and process so that it is far more accessible for folks who have been on the sidelines of real estate investment. We also talk about how we can build more regenerative communities through homeownership and how women can claim their financial autonomy in homeownership.

For more information about Rose--including information on her courses and webinars for would-be homeowners--you can find her on IG @communityrose and at her website: movewithrose.com.

  • Go Ahead and Buy the Latte: Debunking the Money Lies We Were Told

You've heard that old financial advice: "Stop buying your coffee at coffee shops--make your own at home to save money." I don't know about you, but I'm tired of hearing it. In this episode, I break down what's behind that old story (kinda judgy, right?--there's some shaming going on here) and get to the real point--we can buy the latte AND still use our money to build something for the future--without shame. Shame is NOT a prerequisite for change. And, we don't have to completely get rid of shame either to make progress. We can regroup, lean into our values and take steps forward.

If you like your lattes or any other type of comfort purchase that you've been shamed about, give this a listen.
