The hideous tragedy of financial sextortion is that many THINK they know about it. The reality is that sextortion has changed dramatically in the past couple of years because of artificial intelligence and global internet connection.

This is a continuation of exploring the impact of criminals around the world as they have learned they can destroy our kid’s lives while so many of adults believe we have good kids who won’t ever become victims.

The reality: “you be careful online“ is not enough to protect you or your child. Ask a teen and they’ll insist, “I know, Mom/Dad. I’m careful. I only talk to people I know, who know me, or who know a friend.” But that confidence is exactly what predators exploit.

This episode of the Protect & Prevent Podcast, P3Kids, is designed to bring urgency to parents, teachers, counselors, pastors, first responders, and teenagers themselves about financial sextortion.

These criminals reach our kids anywhere. Their bedroom, at a basketball game, the backseat of a car, the school gym. They use AI to gather everything about their targets: their achievements, their friends list, their home, their parents, their school. They look like someone who knows your child.

And here’s the part no one wants to believe: 1 in 6 teen boys and 1 in 7 teen girls have sent a sext. To them, it may seem like no big deal. In addition to that, any image, even if fully clothed, can be manipulated with AI and used to shame, threaten, and destroy a child’s life. Once criminals have an image, the torture is relentless.
