I won't forget what happened on January 6, 2021. I woke up early to see the results come in from the Georgia Special Senate Election, but by the end of the day, the news from that election were overshadowed by a terrible moment in American History. Donald Trump hosted a protest rally called "March on DC" at the same time the Congress and Senate were confirming the Electoral Votes for the next President of the United States (Joe Biden). The protest turned into a riot as the Trump followers stormed the Capitol with little police resistance, they breached the building, broke through police lines, forced elected officials into hiding, and trashed the offices of State Senators and Congress. The following hours led to clashes between police/nation guard and rioters, leaving 5 dead including 1 police officer.
This recording is 2 days after the fact. I (conner) reflect on that moment and what it was like to watch, jumping back and forth from CNN and FoxNews to see how both sides of media covered the events. I think this was a coup. This was a physical attack on elected officials in an attempt to overturn a fair, legal Presidential election. I'm worried for what this means for America in the future.
