May the Fire be With you - A Great Read (and Handbook)
I had the opportunity to read an advance copy of the book, but bought a few more for my extended family members, mentees, and friends. I found them to be neat âNew Year Resolutionâ gifts for people I care for, who seek to find or rekindle passion and meaning in their lives. Just ask people at a holiday gathering how they like their jobs, and we probably will get a sense of how much fire out there that need to be rekindled and ignited. I believe passion and meaning are normally hidden in plain sights ; we just need to learn how to find them and keep them burning. A well-researched book, Find the Fire, diagnostically and methodically by chapter, starts by answering the question âhow we lose our fireâ, then provides practical suggestions on how we can leverage our renewed awareness, to keep our zest in life. The tone of the book is positive and uplifting, peppered with humor. It will be part of my book collection to help me with my coaching.
Do you know what your anti-muse is?
If work sometimes feels like an endless treadmill exercise, this is the book for you.
Find the Fire takes a deep look at the âanti-musesâ that drain inspiration and passion. Uplifting and funny, the author helps you identify the obstacles that can block creativity and hamper innovation. Youâll see the parts you can control and learn how to cope with the parts you canât.
I found this approach far more inspiring than other books on the topic of rediscovering inspiration at work. Instead of artificially sweetened platitudes and a multitude of exclamation points, Scott Mautz provides an honest view of the forces that dampen our passion and how to use that knowledge to reignite it.
Incredible Toolkit for the Emerging Executive
Find the Fire does a great job balancing the goal of providing practical tools to apply with the desire for inspiration and motivation. As a newly promoted executive at a Fortune 500 Company, I've intentionally sought after tools/learnings from those that have paved the pathway before me. This book hits home on exactly what I need during this inflection point in my career - a map to face my fears and opportunity areas and put an action plan together to propel my growth .
