So why are we talking about finding freedom in a culture that prides itself on being free? A large percentage of us are indeed distancing ourselves from religion and leaving the church. However, it seems our inherent religious impulse is still alive and well. Everywhere we look, we find ladders to climb, paths to walk, goals to achieve, and the relief from our pain being pursued. Anything to assure ourselves we're "okay," that we're worthy. So even though religion as we traditionally know it is fading, it seems to be rebranding itself in other areas of life where significance, security, and belonging can be found.
