Today’s episode discusses Spiritual Warfare. Sharon share information about tools that God has provided us to defend ourselves and help us stand when we find ourselves in the midst of a spiritual battle. The only offensive component of the Armor of God is the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. What a strong weapon that we have access to in our Bible. Here are some scriptures that can be prayed to help fight the enemy.

Psalm 91

1 Peter 5:7

1 Peter 5:10

We need God’s help to fight spiritual battles. We are no match for Satan. Prayer, praise, suiting up in the Armor of God, reading the Bible, and resisting the enemy can certainly help. Our prayer is for God’s protection for you from the enemy. Keep your focus of God. He is our faithful Father and help in the battles of life.

Thank you for joining us for this week’s episode. Sharon focuses on the spiritual discipline of prayer this week. Prayer is such a blessing that we sometimes take for granted. We can talk to the God of the Universe 24/7. He is right here with us waiting to hear from us. What matters to us matters to Him.

To quote an old hymn, Just a Little Talk with Jesus:

… I may have doubts and fears my eyes be filled with tears
But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night
Oh, I go to Him in prayer, He knows my every care
And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right

… Now let us have a little talk with Jesus
Let us tell Him all about our troubles
He will hear our faintest cry and we will answer by and by
Now when you feel a little prayer wheel turning
You’ll know a little fire is burning
You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right.

This week, Sharon takes a look at Elijah, one of the great prophets. Even prophets get discouraged. Elijah did. So we should not be surprised when it happens to us. Discouragement often follows a great victory like it did with Elijah when he defeated the prophets of Baal. It’s ok to get discouraged, but God does not want us to stay there. He sticks closer than a brother and He will come to us and feed us and take care of us when we are at our lowest. He is such a loving Father, and such a faithful Father. He wants to spend quiet time with us when our focus rests solely on Him. He often talks to us in a tender whisper and cares for us in the most gentle way. We are each called to serve Him as His children so after He cares for us and gives us what we need, He sends us back to work.

The Lord came to Elijah and sent him to the mouth of the cave, where the presence of the Lord spoke not in the wind, or the fire, or the earthquake, but in a quiet whisper. When we seek Him with all of our hearts, we will always find Him and sometimes it is in ways we do not expect.

May Elijah’s story encourage each of us with new resolve that we are never alone. We have God and we have our brothers and sisters who are serving and struggling just as we are. We should always strive to encourage one another as we all look to our Heavenly Father, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

May God bless your new year with victories for Him, faith in His care and provision, and may you always find grace in the wilderness.

At the start of a new year, Sharon compares life to a book with many twists and turns. As we turn the page to 2025, it is a good time to reflect and challenge ourselves. We can learn from the past, but most importantly, we should trust the Lord as He is sovereign and in charge of all. Sharon challenges the listeners to pray and ask God to help them come up with a word for the new year–one to encourage and motivate for the new year toward spiritual growth.

Sharon interviews Tammy Standard, a wife, a mom, and a follower of Christ. Tammy leads the Grace In The Wilderness Support Group, Love Through the Fences. This women's group is for families and loved ones of those who are incarcerated. While Tammy and her husband, Rick, are separated as he is serving a life sentence, love is not limited. They are happily married and both serving in ministry that crosses out and back between the fences bringing love and telling people about Jesus and His great love. Many lives are being impacted.

Christmas is here! Merry Christmas! The moment we have all been waiting for is here. This week’s podcast focus is Love. Love is what Christmas is all about and encompasses all the other themes of the weeks of Advent leading up to this one–Hope, Peace, and Joy. Love came down at Christmastime. 

Today is a discussion of how God has given the greatest gift of love to us at Christmas. Immanuel, God with us. Jesus poured out that love to save us from our sins at His crucifixion. He came to show us how to love other people too which was part of His plan too all along. This Christmas take time to read the Christmas story and look for love. You will see it in every word. Shower it on other people, and shout it from the rooftops.

For unto us is born in the City of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord! Halleluiah!

As we inch closer to Christmas and the celebration of Jesus' birth, let us focus this week on Joy. Joy is the theme of the third week of Advent. There is so much about this season that is reason for us to have unspeakable joy. Happiness and Joy differ. Joy comes from the Lord and is a fruit of the Spirit. Jesus is our joy! Happiness can depend on us somewhat, but joy lives in us when we are a child of God because Jesus lives in our hearts.

Be still and experience His joy this Christmas. Make a joyful noise! Greet those we love with joy. And pass joy around by forgiving, loving, and serving those less fortunate.

Merry Christmas and welcome to the second week of Advent 2024! This week the topic is Peace. Never has there been a more relevant time in our nation than for our need for peace, God’s peace. Join the podcast for a discussion of the peace that passes all understanding that we all desperately need. It is especially important this time of year. The holidays can be so difficult for those who are grieving, suffering financial hardships or health issues. Let us be thankful that we can look to the One who can bring us through all the hard things of life with a calming touch that only He can provide–our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Take time out this Christmas to let God’s amazing peace settle on you. It’s so easy to let the crazy rush of the season rob us of what is most important–time spent in praise and worship of God and reflection as we await the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child. In the midst of it all, let us sing, “It is Well With My Soul”.

Christmas season is here. The hustle bustle busyness of December can easily take our focus off the real reason for the season. This year, Sharon challenges listeners to make time every day of December to be still and know that He is God and to remember and honor the fact that He sent His Son to save us. This Year Sharon is participating in advent and inviting you along. The first week of advent’s topic is hope. Advent is a way to go deeper in studying the gift of Baby Jesus, to appreciate His sacrifice more, and to bring our focus back to a Christmas centered on Christ rather than what the world points us to–consumerism and Santa.

This week we will do a deep-dive into Hope. Let us hold unswervingly to the Hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23. Never has God shown as much faithfulness and love toward us than when He sent His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life. To miss that blessing and a surrendered heart to Christ is to miss everything.

Sharon shares a special story for Thanksgiving this year–one that reminds us that God is faithful even through our darkest times. During our time in the valleys is when our walk can grow the closest with the Lord. When we rely on Him, we find that He is steadfast and true, and there is no better friend than Him. While we don’t always understand what He is doing in our lives, the answer is always the same–we can trust Him. He is sovereign. He will never leave us or forsake us. This sobering Thanksgiving story of a young woman who had little to be grateful for in the world’s eyes reminds us that no matter what happens, we are still so blessed by God. God comforts us through our hard times so we can comfort others, and He never wastes anything we face. Only He can bring good for the worst trials of life. May you be encouraged that Jesus knows it’s not going to be easy for us. But we don’t have to worry because He has overcome the world. One day,
