The Table Winnipeg

Finding Healing In a Train Wreck

Listen Later

Hey everyone – welcome to the full force of summer! Between the warmth and the humidity, and the fact that I can hear the Folk Fest Main Stage from my front porch, it feels like we’re in the thick of it. I like it…

As far as this week at The Table goes, my first priority is to say a great big THANK YOU! to everyone that has made the switch to the new time slot and helped to facilitate our June gatherings. Thanks to the serving teams for taking care of set up, hospitality, community time and media. Personal thanks to Tim, Anna and Jason for leading the Talky Bits. Thanks to the musicians for keeping us both singing and musing. And thanks to all you that made it a priority to come and gather. It might seem a bit self-evident, but it’s rather difficult to feel connected to people without being with them, so showing up matters.

In the Talky Bit this week I want to offer my “annual report” on my time away. I thought perhaps a half hour of photos, complete with tediously detailed and generally irrelevant family stories would be a scintillating experience. No?  All righty then…I’ll try to find a bigger idea or two in the details, and reflect on those. In particular, I’ve been intrigued by the kinship between the wreckage of a mid-50’s west coast train derailment and our life together at The Table. So that’s where I’ll be headed. And yes…there will be a couple of pictures. Because a travelogue without pictures is just another monologue, right?

In any case, I’m looking forward to being with you all.

Just a reminder – we’re back at Pantages this week.

See you on Sunday.

Peace,

Tim Plett
