The field of health and wellness is as complicated as ever this day in age with the influx of internet ‘fluff’ and trends with no scientific backing. Today’s guest, Mallory Page, is an RD to be with a passion for helping others find true health and look beyond the noise of diet culture. Mal’s favorite topic to discuss and help others work through is that of digestive issues (bloat) and recovering from disordered eating, both topics we discuss on today’s episode. From her beginning interest in health to becoming a Registered Dietician, Mal walks us through her rocky relationship with food and body image as well as her decision to become an RD. In this she shares how she overcame fear foods, the challenges of becoming an RD while battling disordered eating, and how she worked through it. Mal also gives her insight on why diets don’t work and why trends can be harmful to both the body and mind. I ask Mal about certain trends/diets and she debunks each and/or gives a reasonable way to discuss them with someone else. As our last topic of the show Mal and I discuss emotional eating and how we’ve both experienced it. In this Mal shares a wonderful analogy that helps to understand emotional eating as related to drinking alcohol and we both share different hacks for working through it. Better yet, Mal just released a guide to understand your bloat and how to beat it. It’s full of information, chicly designed, and completely FREE.
