Making friends as an adult feels way harder than it used to, but it’s not impossible if you’re willing to be intentional, observant, and a little uncomfortable. In this episode, I talk about moving to a new city, not meeting a single person for months, and what my friend Doug taught me about finding “connector” people who can open the door to whole friend groups.
I break down practical ways to put yourself in the path of new friends: working or studying at coffee shops and sitting at shared tables, paying attention to details you can genuinely comment on, showing up at farmers markets, climbing gyms, board game shops, run clubs, and other regular spots where the same faces appear. I also get into why consistency matters more than one perfect interaction and why you have to be the one to follow up, invite people out, and risk feeling awkward if you actually want real friendships in your life.
