I'm fresh off my move to the beach. Thank you so much for your patience as I got settled in and ready to record again!
In this episode, I share my "welcome to the neighborhood" story of how my $1500 mountain bike was stolen in broad daylight. Thieves sliced through the lock like butter and made off with it within seconds. When I discovered my bike had been stolen, I was angry, resentful, and having a raging pity party. Until I heard the voice of former Navy SEAL Commander Jocko Willink in my head reminding me about a segment of his own podcast where he simply responds to adversity with the word "good" and an attitude to use the hardship as an opportunity to adapt and overcome. As a result, I walked/ran 11 miles that day. I chose to find the "good" even after losing a valuable and useful possession. Having this attitude can change the way you view just about every adversity in life.
If you pay attention to social media at all, you've no doubt had friends (or maybe 100 friends) using the hashtags #saveourchildren and #savethechildren, referencing the horrifying reality of human trafficking around the world. But is this just another fad people get behind without any real action? I discuss the importance of learning about human trafficking, specifically child sexual abuse, as well as sorting through all the bogus information out there that does nothing but destroy the credibility of well meaning people. I share a story about one of the cases I investigated while assigned as a child sex investigator - you don't want to miss it.
